BIO
My name is Kreg Greer and I am a 20 year old long track speed skater. I have been training and racing in the sport for almost 13 years, more than half of my life.
I began my speed skating career in short track at the age of 8, training in Baltimore, Maryland. When I was 15 my family and I moved from Maryland to Marquette, Michigan trained short track at the United States Olympic Education Center (USOEC for short). Once I had graduated high school I moved to Calgary, Alberta to change things up and skate long track.
After 1 year in Calgary I was invited by the National Team coach for long track to come to Salt Lake City, Utah and train with his team. I went, and have been training there for 2 years now.
There’s less than 3 years until the next Olympic Trials, and I need to be in top shape when it gets here. Even though each Olympics is 4 years apart time flies by in an instant if you’re an athlete training for them. You need to take every second of every minute and make it count, otherwise all of your sweat, tears, and blood could be all for nothing.
This season I’m training with Mike Kooreman. He and I raced and trained together in short track at the USOEC, and if he puts the same amount of effort into coaching as he did into his racing I know I’ll be in great hands. I plan to race both short and long track this season.
I’ll be posting all my training, pictures, video, progress, and failures for everyone to see. Enjoy!
